Each year Saint Luke's hosts an egg hunt for the children of the parish and the community. During the 9:30am Easter Day service on 31 March 2013 plastic eggs will be hidden throughout the church grounds. After the service, the children gather on the front steps of the church and given directions as to what area each age group is assigned for the hunt. Upon completion of the hunt, the children return to the front porch where they receive a gift in exchange for the eggs they found. Come and join us for a fun morning where the kids enjoy 'the hunt' without "the competition".

"In Lent, the days get longer, sure. But do they shed any
light within?"
The Lenten Meditations
are both available in electronic form as well in printed form in the
back of the church. Whichever version you choose, I trust you will find
within it strength for the days and weeks to come.

Shrove Tuesday - Pancake Supper and "Decadent Desserts"! Tuesday, February 12 at Saint Luke's from 6-8 pm. Our Youth at Saint Luke's are hosting a traditional pancake supper with an emphasis on DESSERT! In hopes of inspiring donations for their trip to the Dominican Republic, our youth group will be the chefs and organize the festive affair. All members of the congregation are invited to bring their most special, "over-the-top" desserts. Remember it is the last party before the Lenten fast! |

After the last few trying months for
our community, this is the time of year to look back and recall how fortunate
we are to live in such a great town. This is a community where we have all come together as neighbors and friends to help each other out during
difficult times. Saint Luke's Church opened its doors after Hurricane Sandy
to all members of this community to provide a place to gather for comfort and
friendship. They are once again opening
them to celebrate Christmas. The
holiday services will include Advent Lessons and Carols, which will feature our
adult choir and youth choir. The choirs
will be accompanied by, the von Beckerath organ, and selections will include
arrangements of traditional carols as well as Graham Ellis', "There Is No
Rose.” The choir will be back for both
Christmas Eve Services. At the 7:00 pm service the featured piece will be
The Angel's Carol by John Rutter. The program will also include, Bach's
Suite No.1 for cello with Olivia Ottinger as cellist. An arrangement of Gesu Bambino for choir,
organ and violin can be heard at the 10:30 pm service. Jemmin Chang will play the violin solo. Saint Luke’s own string quartet will play at the 10:30 pm service with Ali Robeson,
violin, Jerray Chang, violin, Jemmin Chang, viola, and Olivia Ottinger, cello. All are welcome to celebrate and give
thanks for being part of such a special community and place we call home. Please see the flyer for the complete details of
the weekend celebrations.

Here is an interesting commentary on the state of the 3 year budget that is proposed for the national Church. The changes are good- I hope the delegates adopt this form. |
